The Save our Seafood (S.O.S) campaign team recently participated in the launch of Golden Fresh’s (brand owner of Pacific West seafood products) new frozen seafood product range at Boulevard Hotel, Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur on 18 November 2010.

The event was launched by Golden Fresh CEO, Mr Saw Hai Earn, Country Manager of MSC (Australia & New Zealand) Mr Patrick Caleo and WWF-Malaysia Executive Director/CEO Dato’ Dr Dionysius Sharma.

The three new products, called Figgy Oatmeal Fish Fillet, Wiggy Cornflake Fish Fillet and Ziggy Multigrain Fish Fillet, are made from the MCS certified Alaskan Pollock and bear the MSC label, which is an assurance of seafood sustainability. The launch of the three new product ranges is a follow up from the previous MSC certified product, Deep Sea Frosty Fish Fillet in June 2008, which was also re-launched at the event. All products are available at Cold Storage at Gardens Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur.

The event marks the beginning of Golden Fresh’s initiative to lead the way towards a sustainable seafood future which will include educational road shows in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru as well as educational tours to universities and colleges.

The SOS team participated in the first road show stop at Gardens Mid Valley in Kuala Lumpur from 19-21 November 2010 by giving talks on sustainable seafood and the SOS campaign.

This strategic collaboration is timely to the campaign to guide the public in their search for more sustainable seafood, as well as widening the SOS awareness outreach beyond Klang Valley. The next stop for the SOS team: Gurney Plaza, Penang from 4-5 December 2010 and Johor Bharu in January.
