SUSTAINABLE FOOD RETAILERS

In 2019, WWF-Malaysia embarked on a study to evaluate the performance of the Malaysian retail market, in the form of a Sustainable Retailers Scorecard. This effort focused on 5 key parameters, including food waste management and sustainable seafood sourcing indicators, in order to analyse the current state of sustainability in the retail market. For seafood, results demand an urgent need for sustainability along the supply chain.

To start reducing food retailers’ ecological footprint and supply risk from seafood along the supply chain, alongside promoting the consumption of more sustainable seafood products, WWF-Malaysia recommends to take actions on the following Top 5 sustainable seafood sourcing indicators:
